What I Love About East London
by Jo Valentina Sinclair
Ahh London. So much to say, so much to love and where to begin?
Well firstly, East London does have a hearty community of passion based entrepreneurs.
I love the tranquillity that runs through Regents Canal and the ever growing side bars where you can
stop and grab a drink or fresh organic pizza whilst walking along.
In particular I love London Fields, home to famous Broadway Market which has a cacophony of
foods from all around the world on a Saturday, a park which is one of the laid back places to be in
the summer, and behind the park, a road full of hidden treasures harbouring eateries and bars you
could easily spend a lost weekend in.
If you’re into film & music not to mention good food, head over to The Institute of Light, a local venue
featuring a record shop and cinema that shows independent art-house films. It’s also home to local
underground dj nights and sports a welcoming beer garden. I haven’t tried the food yet but judging
from the menu, they take it as pretty seriously!
There’s also a local brewery called the Taproom which does the best breakfast I’ve had in a long
time, (scrambled egg and avocado on fresh sourdough bread) a seriously cool bar and restaurant
called Wringer and Mangle, the hot spot for a few well-deserved Saturday drinks, and opposite an
ever so cool co-working space for freelancers and start-ups which brings me to mention Work.Life,
the featured business for this month’s issue on the local business community.
