Special Collections & Archives
Make your dissertation stand out by incorporating unique and primary source materials from the Special Collections and Archives.
We collect, preserve and provide access to a unique, eclectic and inspiring range of collections and archives, dating from the twelfth century to the present day. Our holdings span some 1,400 linear metres of manuscripts, printed materials, sketches and watercolours, sheet music, lantern slides, photographs and audio recordings.
As well as family, estate and business records, our archives comprise personal, research and literary papers, manorial records and medieval charters.
Prominent themes include:
• Intellectual and political thought in early twentieth century Britain
• History of the University and Keele estate
• Social and industrial development of North Staffordshire
We’ re fortunate to hold a large archive charting the development of sociology in Britain in the early twentieth century. The Foundations of British Sociology Archive comprises correspondence, lecture notes, reports, photographs, and town and regional survey materials spanning the UK and Europe.
