The 1970’s was full of discoes and afros. In Ireland it was the day before Christmas. Snowflakes glistened in the morning sunlight. The roof of Joey and Rebecca’s house was covered in a blanket of snow. Rebecca’s cat, Sox, snuggled in Rebecca's arms. Joey came into her bedroom. Rebecca, Joey and Sox moved as fast as they could outside into the cold damp snow. Rebecca’s long black hair reflected the sun’s rays of light.

Joey made a round ball out of frosty white snow.

“Let’s make a snowman” said Joey. They put the large ball of snow in the middle of their garden. They made a ball a bit smaller and put it on top of the big snowball. Then they made a head-sized ball and put it on top of the two bigger snowballs.

“He needs clothes” said Joey. They walked inside and found some items. Joey found some sticks and a top hat. Rebecca and Sox found a carrot, coal and a big green vest.

They used the sticks as arms, the coal as eyes, buttons and a mouth, a carrot nose, a hat on his head and a vest for him to wear. His name was Snowflake the snowman. Suddenly Snowflake came alive. The children were amazed at the fact that he was alive. The children played with him all day. In the afternoon the snowy, white clouds moved away and the bright afternoon sun spread light over Ireland. Snowflake dripped and started to melt.
