COURSE UPDATE : The month of August proved to be the most challenging of the year to this point . The weather pattern mirrored what we saw during the month of July with persistent heat and humid conditions . The course also saw nine straight days of temperatures above 95 ° coupled with high humidity and zero rainfall . However , no matter the odds the LGCC maintenance team battled through the rough spell of weather and are looking forward to a promising September forecast .
Hopefully the month of September will bring lower temperature and humidity as the maintenance team begins preparations for our Fall greens aerification , which is scheduled for the 13th-15th of the month . The course will be closed those three days for aerification and general maintenance catch-up and clean-up .
A break in the weather will be a welcomed change for the maintenance team as the end of September and beginning of October are slated to be a busy part of our year . Once the greens aerification has been completed , our plan is to begin aerifying the fairways , rough and tee boxes . These processes may be a little disruptive for a short time period , but the main benefit of this process will be a much healthier and more dense playing surface this Fall and into next Spring . We are also planning on seeding into some areas around the golf course such as drop areas , # 5 fairway and other areas to be determined later .
With all this said , the LGCC maintenance team appreciates your patience and understanding as we enter one of our busier times of the year to prepare the golf course for the Fall and Winter seasons . And as always , we are continuing to work hard in order to provide you , the members , with the best possible playing conditions in the Valley !
