Citizen Safety Top Priority for July 4th Celebrations

Every year , people across the country experience unnecessary death , injury and / or property damage because of fireworks . To provide residents a quick way of reporting any illegal firework activity , The City of Arlington activated the Fireworks Reporting Webpage Online Tool from July 1st thru July 4th so that residents could quickly report illegal fireworks activity without compromising the 9-1-1 Dispatch Center ’ s ability to take other emergency calls . This reporting tool was made available through a red banner at the top of any City of Arlington webpage , as well as through the City ’ s free Ask Arlington app .
Results of the Online Reporting Tool
~ 1,250 calls were entered from the webform during its activation

City ’ s 2024 Pavement Survey Includes All Public Streets in Central Arlington

It ’ s that time of the year again ! The Public Works Department is preparing to survey the street conditions in Central Arlington .
Each year the vendor collects data on one-third of the City ’ s Streets . This year ’ s survey will focus on all city streets South of Park Row Drive and North of South Green Oaks Boulevard toward Interstate 20 .
Using technology to gather and record roadway data allows the City to develop a comprehensive and proactive approach to roadway management that ensures road maintenance budgets are spent wisely . Using this approach , the Public Works Department performed work on over 526 lane miles during Fiscal Year 2023 . Of these , 10.7 miles were improved through a capital improvement project , the remaining lane miles received maintenance work either by city staff or contractors .
