IT Department internship partnership with Mansfield ISD ’ s Ben Barber Innovation Academy
The IT Department partners with local school districts and UTA to provide student internships during the school year . Interns are a valuable addition to our workforce and allow the City to spotlight how we leverage technology across the rich inter-disciplinary municipal government environment .
During the 2023-2024 school year , our IT team coordinated with Mansfield ISD ’ s Ben Barber Innovation Academy STEM Program and hosted four high school seniors in internship positions . The internships provided students with professional mentoring and hands-on working environments in which they could explore potential career choices that align with the STEM curriculum . Our IT team worked with other departments , as well , to identify crossfunctional learning opportunities for the interns to experience during their tenure .
We celebrate civic engagement by investing in our next generation of leaders and are grateful for our high school interns who dedicated their school year to expanding their knowledge by serving alongside our IT team .
