Arlington Animal Services Leverages Technology To Improve Response Times | Social Media By The Numbers
The Clean Cities initiative is a locally based , public-private partnership that promotes practices and decisions to reduce energy use and improve air quality in the transportation sector . Clean Cities has a goal of reducing the equivalent of more than 20 million gallons of gasoline by using alternative fuel vehicles , reducing idling and saving fuel through other best practices . Arlington Third-Time Recipient of Dallas-Fort Worth Clean Cities Coalition ’ s Fleet Recognition Award

In partnership with the North Central Texas Council of Governments ( NCTCOG ) and for recognition of its continuing contributions to reduce petroleum use and improve air quality in 2022 , the City of Arlington was awarded Silver status from the Dallas-Fort Worth Clean Cities Coalition . The City of Arlington was awarded Bronze status in 2020 and 2021 .
Awards were presented based on entities ’ scores on the DFW Clean Cities Annual Survey . The points include 55 from emissions reduction , 25 from fuel consumption reduction , and 20 from partnering with DFWCC . Gold Level status required 45-100 points ; Silver Level status required 34-44 ; and Bronze Level status required 28-34 .
The 2022 winners were significant in helping the region reduce 24.2 million gallons of gasoline equivalent and 118,555 tons of greenhouse emissions .
The City ’ s fleet currently includes eight electric vehicles , which are used by various departments . Additionally , Arlington installed electric vehicle charging stations for these fleet vehicles at strategic locations throughout the city thanks to two Texas Commission on Environmental Quality grants .
