Safer Moving & Handling
Manual Handling Risk Assessment – ELITE
Anyone who is required to carry out a manual handling task as part
of their job should have access to a Manual Handling Risk
Assessment. This is usually found as part of the service users care
plan.
A competent person should have already assessed the manual
handling task and put in place measures to reduced the risk of
injury to anyone taking part in that task. The tool that is used to
complete the assessment is called ELITE and is explained over the
next few pages.
You should ensure that before any manual handling task you are
completing your own mental Manual Handling Risk Assessment
using the same tool.
