Ways of life

Once the Anglo-Saxons established in the territory for around 450 AD, they became the dominant group and their ways of life were an example for everyone who lived around them. Children were seen as adults once they got to ten years of age, leaving no time to be a kid, as they had to work as much as a normal adult would and punished as tough as a fully grown person would if they broke any law. Undoubtedly, boys and girls had different roles within the community. For example, girls were in charge of the house, making sure food was prepared, brewing ale, housekeeping and making cheese. Boys were their father’s second hand, learning practical skills such as, chopping down trees, working with metal weapons, ploughing fields, hunting, and training for battle.
