How English Established in the Island
In the island known today as Great Britain, Celtic languages were spoken before waves of immigration from the European mainland swarmed with new languages. Once tribes such as Saxons, Jutes, Angles, and Frisian (Julian, 2019; Mastin, 2011), arrived in the isle in the fifth century, influence by their West Germanic dialects began to appear in the picture. Not only they brought their languages in, but new culture and different ways of life permeated the early settlers.
