There are different supports like: paper, canvas, wood, glass etc. We need the turpentine to clean brushes. There are different painting media:
Oil: Oil painting is the process of painting with pigments that are bound with a medium of drying oil.
Pastel: Pastel is a painting medium in the form of a stick, consisting of pure powdered pigment and a binder.
Acrylic: Acrylic paint is fast drying paint containing pigment suspension in acrylic polymer emulsion.
Watercolor: Watercolor is a painting method in which the paints are made of pigments suspended in a water soluble vehicle.
Fresco: Fresco is any of several related mural painting types, done on plaster on walls or ceilings. Frescoes were often made during the Renaissance and other early time periods.
My favorite painting media is oil, because I love paint pictures. I started painting at 11 years and this is my hobby.

The kinds are allegory, bodegón, body painting, figure painting, illustration painting, portrait painting, still life and veduta. Abstract painting have a meaning for the painter.
