ASSOCIATED PRESS : To the surprise of everyone in Mexico City, Zapata, Madero’s Jefe de Armas at Cuernavac, obeyed Madero’s summons to answer the charge against him and rolled into the city Tuesday afternoon
in an automobile. At the Coliseo Hotel he inquired gruffly for a room, pumped his rifle empty on the marble
floor and clanked upstairs. He then removed his two revolvers and gave then to an attendant.

On April 10, 1919, rebel warlord Emiliano Zapata
was double-crossed, ambushed and killed by federal
forces working with Coronel Jesus Guajardo.

chronicler of the Mexican Revolution Agustin Casasola was invited to take the photo, which was widely
circulated but failed to achieve the results Carranza
had hoped for. The claims that he was still alive persisted long after Zapata’s death.

drove a big automobile
into the capital and placed
himself at the disposal of
Francisco F. Madero. After a conference between
the two of not more than
20 minutes he was free
to return immediately to
Cuernavaca. In the eyes
of the former leader of
the revolution, Zapata has
