It has been said that, “if I use my
candle to light yours, I will lose no light,
but the room becomes brighter.”
With that understanding, Fort
Lauderdale is about to be “lit” with
thousands of luminaries descending
upon our great city that will be sharing
their time, talents and treasures. The
National Urban League Conference has
gained a reputation for being such an
event. From July 29th through August

John P. “Jack” Seiler
Dear Mr. Morial and Members of the
National Urban League:
For more than 100 years, the National
Urban League (NUL) has been a positive
force for change in the areas of selfempowerment, job creation, education
and equal housing opportunities. Always
focused on empowering people, the
NUL continues the important work
established by its founders.
We are extremely proud of our
Urban League of Broward County, led
by the dynamic Dr. Germaine SmithBaugh. Under her leadership, the Urban
League has made an inedible mark in
Greater Fort Lauderdale and Broward
County. Creating strategic partnerships
in one city is a networker’s dream.
This event, taking place at the Broward
County Convention Center, is known to
spawn business relationships far
and wide.
For 11 years, Legacy Magazine has
celebrated the accomplishments of
thought leaders in the Black community.
We take great pride in this celebration
and our relationship with the National
Urban League Conference.
The economic impact on our city
Very truly yours,
John P. “Jack” Seiler

The NUL has given a voice to many
