Win at Buxton opera house
by Richard Lane
orecambe, an Olivier Award-winning
drama comedy, starring Bob Golding as
Eric Morecambe is coming to Buxton
Opera House on Thursday 22 to
Saturday 24 May.
Don’t miss this moving, often hilarious tale
about one of Britain’s best-loved entertainers, 30
years after his sudden death in 1984. The one
man play documents how Morecambe managed
to affect the nation in such a positive way from
his humble beginnings in Music Hall to his
Christmas day special watched by millions.
Morecambe and Wise attracted 28 million
television viewers in their heyday, half of the
population of the UK at the time. Directed by
Paul Hendy this heart-warming, tear-jerking,
laughter-inducing story sees Bob play around 50
different characters, which is some feat in itself.
But aside from the Olivier Award, perhaps the
biggest tribute comes from Morecambe’s own
family, with Eric’s daughter Gail revealing to Bob
after an impromptu visit, that she had come
armed with tissues and used ‘every bloody one.’
Morecambe The Man what brought us
sunshine takes place on Thursday 22 to Saturday
24 May. Tickets are priced at £16 and £18 and
discounts are available. To buy tickets or for
