BREAKTHROUGH BREAST CANCER for cancer care and when I can and from which all the proceeds go into a bank account I have set up solely for my fundraising.” And now it seems Catherine’s youngest daughter 17-year-old Westwood College student Rebecca Bennett is taking over her mother’s mantle with a £650 fundraising total of her own. Crafty Rebecca not only helps her mum to make and sell jewellery and bracelets but has her own range she has developed which even includes ring pull handbags which can be commissioned and which she has not only sold for quite considerable sums of cash but an example of which was recently featured on television's Blue Peter programme no less. “I still come home to bags of bras on the doorstep occasionally and ring pulls, we have received them in their thousands from all over the place, but its great that people want to help and is very much appreciated we couldn’t do it without the support we have had.” For Catherine it is still very much about spreading the word and raising awareness of breast cancer and the importance of regularly checking your breasts as much as it is raising funds, she added: “If all I have gone through and campaigned for means just one woman is spurred on to get their breasts checked then it has all been worth it.” If you would like to know more about Catherine or Rebecca’s crafty creations, would like to donate any ring pulls or craft paraphernalia or simply make a donation to Breakthrough Breast Cancer check out their website at www.cannycrafts.co.uk, phone Catherine on 07808 733870, or visit their Facebook page Canny Crafts, alternatively catch Catherine at Endon Well Dressing in May where she will be holding a stall to sell her wares.
