W
e heard just before Christmas that the
new administration at Hereford Council
are not planning to outsource our library
service. This has to be formally confirmed by
the Council but there is no longer any support
for taking such a risk.
More locally, November saw another successful
book sale. Thanks to everyone who donated and/
or bought books and to the team who helped run
the sale. This year’s sales will be in June and
November.

Also in November, we were back at the Feathers
for our sixth annual quiz, another fun filled
evening with Sara-Jane Arbury. The winning team
were ‘Psst!’ who add their name to the shield
displayed in the Library. As usual we held a raffle
during the quiz. Many thanks to our local
businesses who donated prizes: Aldi, Clubsport,
Ethos, Handley Organics, Hay Wines, Isaacs Linens,
Ledbury Hardware, Monkley’s Furniture, The Odd
Shop, Raft, Shanti Shanti and Tesco.
Looking ahead to a busy year, we have a number
of author events. The first of these is with Lucy
Dillon. She joins us on the evening of Tuesday
11th February. Tickets are available at the Library.
We have a new venture on Saturday 21st March.
We are ‘branching out’ and holding a Ceilidh with
the Cotswold Ceilidh Band. Don’t worry if you
don’t know the dances. The band have a good
caller who will keep us ‘in step’. Book the date now
and join us at the Royal Hall.
