VISIT TO A SUSTAINABLE HOUSE
How to live in an eco-friendly and sustainable manner…
As part of our project, we visited a wonderful house built according to an extraordinary philosophy of life: If you have a dream, just do it. With only 15Â 000 euros in his hands, the owner and a young friend built a home that minimizes negative environmental impacts; moderate the use of construction materials and save water and energy.
For example, he built the house without divisions to let in natural light and save on furniture. The entire facade of the house is covered with climbing plants that protect it from the heat of the sun and the cold
of winter, improving the energy efficiency.
He built, in 3 installments, a system with 42 solar panels that not only produces the electricity needed for daily life in the house, but also allows charging 2 electric cars, even in the months with lower light
intensity. The house has a small grey-water recycling system that allows the bath or kitchen wastewater to be re-used.
A new division of the house was built from an abandoned container, second-hands doors and without cement. Around the house there are no fences, there is no separation from the natural space. Instead, they
planted 300 trees from the local forest, and on the day of our visit, another tree was planted in honor of our LEAVES project.
