National Fred
Harvey Museum
Built in 1869, this home was purchased by
Fred Harvey, a famous restaurateur, in 1883.
Harvey, known for opening restaurants and
hotels along the Santa Fe Railroad in the
primitive West, was the first to have female
servers. The “Harvey Girls” were glamorized
in MGM’s 1946 movie starring Judy Garland.
The mansion is currently undergoing
extensive restoration and tours are only
available by appointment.
