National Fred Harvey Museum Built in 1869, this home was purchased by Fred Harvey, a famous restaurateur, in 1883. Harvey, known for opening restaurants and hotels along the Santa Fe Railroad in the primitive West, was the first to have female servers. The “Harvey Girls” were glamorized in MGM’s 1946 movie starring Judy Garland. Formerly the Hollywood Theater, this center was the used to entertain the public on its silver screen for nearly 40 years.
