Learning from the American Fundraising Model: A European Perspective March 2014 | Page 28

About the King Baudouin Foundation United States ( KBFUS ) Based in New York, the King Baudouin Foundation United States (KBFUS) helps American donors support European and African nonprofits in an efficient, tax deductible and secure way. Over the past three years, we have facilitated more than $36 million in grants to support a wide variety of causes. As well as helping donors to support nonprofit initiatives overseas, we also assist European and African organizations in raising funds in the United States. Through an ‘American friends fund’ at KBFUS, they can reach out to American donors with a tool that bears their name and invite them to support their activities through contributions that are tax-deductible for U.S. tax purposes. In addition to the services we provide to donors and nonprofits, we have developed a series of educational programs that present unique opportunities for cross-cultural learning in the fields of fundraising and philanthropy.
