Stroke and Falls are a major threat
to the independence of older
adults, often resulting in disability
and nursing home placement. The
best way to prevent stroke and
falls is to learn, assess your risk
factors, and make behavior and
environmental changes to address
these risks. Topics include: stroke
definition, prevention, signs and
symptoms, risk factors, treatment,
and consequences as well as
falls prevention, risk factors, and

with alcohol or other drugs during
the earlier stages of their lives. As
the number of people reaching
retirement age increases, so does
the population of people who are
having issues with addiction. Learn
about aging and the disease of
addiction including the factors that
contribute to it, signs of potential
problems, treatment options and
other sources of help. Knowledge
about aging and addiction is the best
first step towards prevention for you
