STEM/SPARK Learning Community Newsletter spring 2014 STEM LC Volunteers with POWERSET students from Palacios High School The learning community hosted the POWERSET women from Palacios High School on February 21. Each SPARK student paired with a POWERSET student, and the teams built bridges to see whose bridge could hold the most weight. Selected Events Enchanted Rock Trip: All of the residents raved about the March 1 trip to Enchanted Rock! The group enjoyed itself and definitely bonded over the experience which strengthened our community. Bobcat Build: Seven of the residents spent the day helping an 80 year-old San Marcos resident get some things done in her yard! Resident Spotlight: the energetic and enthusiastic Haley Stirneman I like living in the learning community because the people around you become your family. It's hard being a STEM major, but a great support system makes the experience better. You don't feel so overwhelmed because you have friends going through the same classes and the same adversities. ~ Hailey Stirneman Circuit of The Americas Visit: Several of the LC students joined Tokyo Electron at the Circuit of The Americas Racetrack in Austin on April 11 for a day of racing and networking.
