Future Teachers Learning Community Newsletter spring 2014 Gaillardia Selected Events Welcome to our new Resident Assistant, Dustin Lazenby. Education Mixer: On November 5, several recruiters from the Texas State’s annual Teacher Job Fair took time out of their schedules for a visit to the Future Teachers in Tower hall. The informal mixer was a big success! This event will be repeated on April 9, the night before the next Teacher Job Fair. Dustin is a sophomore from New Braunfels and is studying Health & Wellness Promotion. Dustin is getting acclimated in Tower hall and will carry the torch forward next year with the departure of the fantastic Sarah Cohen. Making a Difference: The learning community helped with a talent show at Travis Elementary School on February 9 and participated in Bobcat Build on March 29. Classroom experience: Residents from the learning community have been paired with teachers at Travis Elementary School. They spend time observing, planning lessons and activities, and building relation- (Good luck Sarah!) Future Teachers Academic Achievements Fall 2013 Resident Spotlight: Caitlyn Koebler Caitlyn is a Curriculum & Instruction major from Kingwood, Texas. She is paired with the music teacher at Travis Elementary. "It’s been a great opportunity for all of us. The group activities create a strong sense of community between the residents. My favorite part is that so many of us share classes, which has led to studying opportunities and has increased my work ethic. The LC has introduced me to a great group of people, and the bonds we have created will last a lifetime!" Ms. Zapp is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction.
