Anne Dooley Good Shepherd Communities 4 (continued from page 10) How do you hope your project might unfold in the months and years ahead and what impact do you hope it will have on the field at large? My professional legacy would be to raise the Good Shepherd Communities Vision statement to an awareness level, where Team members in every position of every department are able to identify with the goals of the Living Vision statement. The concept of benchmarking the values derived from the Vision Statement will be the foundation to move forward with creating a culture where staff are empowered to make changes, to have measurable progress against the meeting, exceeding, or lagging measures. 5 How has the action learning process in the context of the Leadership Academy experience contributed to your growth as a leader? The Leadership Academy has exceeded my expectations. My only regret is that I did not have this opportunity many years ago when I was beginning my leadership journey. College courses don’t provide the in-depth leadership knowledge and the core strengthening leadership realization that the Academy has provided. My own self-actualization through the Standout, Meyers-Briggs and the Emotional Intelligence 2.0 assessments has been an opportunity to put the pieces of the puzzle of my actions together. I now have the tools to work introspectively through my own personal practice challenges to provide those I lead with the encouragement, resources and reliability they need. The Leadership Academy really impacted my practice as a leader in ways that I would not have expected - the focus on authenticity, on recognizing both the values of one’s natural skills as well as areas to improve and the positive focus on change were truly life-changing. I have seen beneficial changes in both my professional and personal life. Class of 2013-14 Leadership Academy Graduate IGNITE Leadership Academy Action Learning Project 2013-14 11
