Before you are a preacher, strategist, counselor, or vision carrier, you are a son or daughter of God. Your value does not rise when the church grows, and it does not fall when a season becomes difficult. You matter to God because you belong to Him.
Jesus understood the importance of stepping away. Mark 6:31 tells us that He said to His disciples,“ Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.” The disciples had been ministering to so many people that they did not even have time to eat. Jesus did not shame them for being tired. He invited them to rest.
Sometimes the most spiritual thing a leader can do is stop long enough to let God restore what ministry has drained.
The retreat is designed to create room for that. There will be powerful teaching and practical encouragement, but also time to slow down, share meals, laugh, pray, and remember why God called us. We want leaders to leave with fresh ideas and renewed hearts.
Ministry Was Never Meant to Be Done Alone Over the years, I have watched pastors arrive at SCN gatherings carrying questions they had not felt free to ask anywhere else. Some were facing major decisions. Others were navigating staff challenges, family pressures, or discouragement. Many simply needed to sit with another pastor who understood.
Something powerful happens when leaders realize,“ I am not the only one.”
That realization can lift a tremendous weight.
