But there is a bit more to Paul ’ s idea of an argument than what we read in our English translations . The Greek word for arguments is logismos . 1 If you look closely at the word , you may be able to discern what English word we derive from it . If you guessed logic , then you are correct .
Logic includes fact-based kinds of statements that might also be called reason , rationality or common sense . Those are all part of what
Paul says the enemy uses against us . These , of course , are far from what we would consider or recognize as lies . That is because they are not lies . The arguments the enemy brings to our minds include evidence of things we did , what was said about us , what actually happened or something we are presently facing . Simply put , the enemy ’ s arguments include the truth . These might sound like
• “ You were a druggie .”
• “ You were addicted to pornography .”
• “ You got fired from that job .”
• “ You are quiet .”
