Love
Isn ’ t Complicated , Circumstances Are
JASON VANRULER
Love isn ’ t complicated , but sometimes we are . And so sometimes we complicate the simple act of loving someone .
Our tendency to overcomplicate love makes me think of the bicycle . Since its invention in 1885 , the bicycle hasn ’ t changed much . Essentially , you sit on the seat and pedal . That ’ s about it . Of course , the technology has changed quite a bit since 1885 , and we are no longer riding bicycles that weigh a gazillion pounds and creak with every pedal stroke , but the concept is about the same .
Our goal is for love to be like the bicycle : a humble beginning that ’ s improved on frequently but at its core is still the same .
