I can clearly remember the day when I stood in our guest bedroom closet feeling completely overwhelmed , looking at all the stuff we had collected over the years . Packed from ceiling to floor with home decor for every season , that closet had enabled me to hoard more things than I was ever meant to possess .
We all have that place in our homes where we put all the random stuff we collect . For a few of us it manages to take up only a drawer , for some of us it fits in a closet , and for others it requires a whole room . It ’ s a struggle we all have , and it all centers around stewardship . How content are we with the possessions God has shared with us ?
In one of his parables , Jesus told a story about a rich man who had an abundance of possessions , to the point where it filled up all of his barns . Instead of being content and grateful with what he had , he chose to tear down his barns and build bigger ones just so he wouldn ’ t have to get rid of anything .
