A Proven Method to Decluttering & Minimizing Your Home

This order tends to work best because it ’ s based on prioritizing first the rooms that are used the most . recycle , and one to keep . Do this rather quickly , and make decisions based on your initial gut feelings .
Plan for Each Room 1 . Start each room when you have at least several days to work through it . Pull out everything that ’ s in the room and place it in the middle of the floor . There should be nothing left in any of the cupboards or dressers . ( If there is a closet in the room , save the closet items for later in your decluttering cycle .) This visual of seeing everything you own is incredibly important .
2 . As you go through the items in the room , make a few different piles : one for items to donate , one for items to trash /
3 . Once you have gone through everything in the room and have it all sorted into piles , remove the donation and trash piles to make more space in the room .
4 . Now you should be left with all the items you decided to keep . Leave these things for another day . You will need more time , brainpower , and a fresh set of eyes to sort through what you have left .
