for children to come to Jesus.
So how does this all tie into my conversation
with the leader earlier?
Because her doubt and discouragement didn’t
come out of nowhere. It was crafted for her by
an opponent.
One of those schemes that I see the enemy use
over and over on ministry leaders is the onetwo
punch of doubt and discouragement. If
there was ever fertile soil for the seeds of doubt
and discouragement to take root in today’s
children’s ministry leadership community, it
is certainly the soil of a global pandemic and
rising cultural tensions
What must we do to stand firm against doubt
and discouragement? Against wondering if we
should quit?
• Believe in faith that His presence is enough
for you. “Have I not commanded you? Be
strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do
not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will
be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
• Wait for the Lord– don’t get ahead of Him
and yield control to the One who is actually in
control. “Yet those who wait for the LORD Will
gain new strength; They will mount up with
wings like eagles, They will run and not get
tired, They will walk and not become weary.”
Is. 40:31
• Saturate our heart, mind, and soul in the
Words of God so we can obediently take each
thought captive to Christ. “For though we live
in the world, we do not wage war as the world
does. The weapons we fight with are not the
weapons of the world. On the contrary, they
have divine power to demolish strongholds. We
demolish arguments and every pretension that
sets itself up against the knowledge of God,
and we take captive every thought to make it
obedient to Christ.” 2 Cor. 10:3-5
Children’s ministry leader, if you’re wondering
if you’re made for this, you’re not alone. But
more than ever, we need all of us to keep
running our race in obedience and endurance
for the sake of the Kingdom. May we root
out doubt and discouragement with faith,
with yieldedness to the King, and with hearts
convinced of the Truth. May we live as evidence
before a generation who is watching us - eyes
desperate for hope and truth - that our God is
truly who He has said He is: worthy of all of our
trust, all of our devotion, all of our lives.
