But he didn ’ t take a penny with him . And we are left with a question , in the light of his saying that things “ fall away in the face of death , leaving only what is truly important .” What is it that is truly important ?
Jesus gives the answer by asking a sobering question : “ What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world , and loses his own soul ?” ( Mark 8:36 ).
The combined wealth of Jobs , Bezos , and Solomon amounts to nothing compared to the salvation of our soul . Grab hold of that truth with both of your hands . Never forget it . Then take courage and reach into eternity by totally trusting in almighty God .
