Helping Your Teen Discover Their Temperament

Temperament may be the most underrated factor that influences our views and uses of money . If you don ’ t understand your temperament , you may end up living at the effect of it , often wondering why you do what you do with money and why you seem to keep bumping up against the same financial problems and conflicts again and again .
On the other hand , if you do understand your temperament , you have a great opportunity to maximize your inherent money-management strengths and work around your weaknesses .
This isn ’ t a topic to teach our kids about while they ’ re toddlers . Although we may start to see in our children certain tendencies associated with specific temperaments at an early age , it ’ s important to give them time and watch how they respond to a variety of situations .
As early as age twelve or thirteen , have your child go through the lists of characteristics associated with each temperament , check each one they think describes them , and then see which temperaments have the highest number of check marks . Separately ,
