Key knowledge gaps
The Synthesis Report has highlighted the extent of knowledge and experience in the BBB catchment , and has also highlighted some of the major knowledge gaps . These include :
• relative contributions of large alluvial gully networks compared to other erosion sources within upstream reaches of the catchment e . g . erosional sources in Little Bowen sub-catchment ;
• relative contribution of the Bogie River sub-catchment compared to other Bowen subcatchments sources to the end-of-Burdekin River , given the disparity between the latest model outputs and existing monitoring and tracing research efforts ; and
• gap in monitoring data in lower catchment . The Little Bowen sub-catchment has been identified as a sediment hot-spot sub-catchment , however it ’ s relative contribution compared to large-scale erosional gully features further downstream with greater connectively to the Bowen River outlet requires further investigation .
