Entertainment at the races
Lingfield Park was the venue for an LCCI Patron Prestige Race Day on a glorious Tuesday in August providing an opportunity to network in an informal setting – and, yes, the chance to win( or lose) a few quid!
Special
Patron members assembled in the top floor of the hospitality suite with a prime view of the winning post for the six races. The fifth race was particularly special as the group were invited to select the‘ best turned out’ horse in the paddock and award a cash prize to its groom. They also made a presentation to the owner of the winning horse in the race – the three-year old Malachy’ s Wish.
Pedigree
Lingfield has some pedigree. Sir Winston Churchill was a regular visitor and a member during the 1950s and60s – he owned the nearby Churchill Stud. HM The Queen Mother,
who certainly knew her horses, was also well known at the track. One December in 1961 her three horses competing there all won their races.
Entertainment
Horse racing is the number one activity at Lingfield and its all-weather track enables competition from January through to December. However, there is plenty of other entertainment on offer at this idyllic setting in the beautiful
Surrey countryside – not to mention the Marriot hotel which is part of the resort. Events this year feature a wide range of evening concerts including a Take That tribute, Rum & Reggae, ABBA the Party, and jazz, soul and Motown nights.
