Celebrating London’ s business community

Timing is everything! The guest speaker at the LCCI annual summer garden party was the capital’ s mayor Sir Sadiq Khan on the day it was announced that he was to be appointed a Labour life peer in the House of Lords.
Dynamic
Introduced by LCCI chief executive Karim Fatehi OBE and chair Julia Onslow-Cole, Mayor Khan recognised the Chamber’ s work in championing and supporting business of all sizes and across all sectors. The College Garden at Westminster Abbey was a fitting venue for London’ s diverse and dynamic business community on yet another sweltering night in a long hot summer.
Vital role
Mayor Khan, who was joined by Howard Dawber OBE, deputy mayor for business, highlighted the vital role London’ s economy plays in creating jobs and growth in the UK and spoke about the opportunities for London to work hand in hand with the rest of the country.
In his address Fatehi said that London was the best city in the world for business, trade and investment.“ Through events like these, we bring together business leaders to connect, exchange ideas, explore key business issues, foster new collaborations and unlock opportunities for growth and innovation.”
Showcase
The event also marked the official launch of LCCI’ s SME London Business Awards 2027. Returning for its fourth year, this is an opportunity to shine a spotlight on individual businesses and showcase their successes. See page 32 for more information and how to enter.
The headline sponsor for the annual summer garden party was Veolia. Associate sponsors were Etihad Airways and FINN Partners. The Chamber thanks them all for their valued support. See more photos of the event on page 73
