Bar since 2015 , and prior to that practiced in Illinois for nearly a decade .
I want to sincerely thank the outgoing editor Joseline Hardrick for all of her hard work over the past year , and for showing me the ropes and providing great tools as I begin this fantastic experience . I wish Professor Hardrick the very best going forward , and I am sure I will be reaching out to her over the next months as I settle into the position .
This month in the magazine , many of the new section Chairs are taking the opportunity to introduce themselves and lay out their vision for the coming year . I encourage all HCBA members to join the section relevant to their practice area and to take an active role in the section . They are such a great resource of both substantive education and collegiality .
For those who are in the domestic relations field , be sure to check out the article from the Clerk of the Court regarding the new Domestic Violence Injunction Law . The revised statute will hopefully streamline the process for many victims of domestic violence . on the intellectual property side , there is a fascinating article on companies working to establish trademark rights to virtual goods and services .
I would also highly recommend checking out the details of the Bench Bar Conference . I know the Committee has been hard at work , and it looks like they have an excellent event planned this year . I am personally looking forward to attending .
Finally , there is a great introduction to our new HCBA president , Jacqueline simms-Petredis . I am looking forward to her leadership this year , as well as her focus on “ community .” n
