For me , April 20 started out as an uneventful day . By that evening , I was making arrangements to have open heart surgery . Despite having no symptoms , a nuclear stress test and a subsequent heart catheterization revealed I had multiple blockages that required a quintuple bypass . I had often joked that the stress of being a lawyer

would kill me one day . Little did I know that my journey to “ the undiscovered country from whose bourn no traveler returns ” could have happened at age 49 .
