So How Do I Do That?

Google is clearly the leader in the search engine world. Sites like Bing and Yahoo simply follow suit. So when you optimize for Google, you’re optimizing for all the other search engines. But Google takes into account over 200 different ranking signals. Everything from keywords you want to rank for, the quality of links coming to your site, the age of your domain, the load time of your site, your meta data, and even how users interact with your site are all taken into account when determining if you’re going to get the top positions or not.

So Why SEO?

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. SEO isn’t just a bunch of speculation and non-FDA approved herbal remedy solutions to digital marketing. It’s something your business needs and something your competitors are doing.

Don’t believe me? When you take into account that 92% of all US adults use search engines and 74% of them use search engines to research products and services, you know that it’s pretty important to have your website listed in there.

But how important is it to be at the top, hence “optimization”.

Consider this; After a search, the number one position gets 33% of all clicks. The second gets 17% and the third gets 11%. So 61% of all clicks happen in the top three results. The bottom 7 results only get a combined total of 30% of the organic clicks, which means less then 10% of anyone makes it to the second page of Google.

Which makes the second page of Google the best place to hide a dead body.

Think about it. What do you do when you don’t see what you’re looking for on the first page of Google? If I was a gambling man, I’d say you retype your search and cross your fingers for better results on the first page.

Are you starting to see why SEO is so important?
