Latin Times Magazine: Tell us
about your family history where you
come from?
Paul Calderon: I was born in Ya-
bucoa, Puerto Rico, my grandfather
was a tobacco farmer. My father was
a business man in Caguas. Had a
factory that made pots and pans.

about some of some of the Films/TV
Shows you have been in?
Paul Calderon: Back in the
80s, I did several Miami Vice
episodes; New York Undercov-
er; the Equalizer; Spencer for
Hire; etc. Recently I did “Fear
of the Walking Dead”
Latin Times Magazine: What Proj-
ects are you currently working on?
Paul Calderon: I just finished
directing and acting in a play that I
also wrote.
I have been asked to do the 4th sea-
son of Bosch, an Amazon original
series.
Latin Times Magazine: What inspired
you to become an Actor?
Paul Calderon: I was hoping to be-
come a baseball player but blew my
arm out and went into the service, and
found out its excruciatingly boring,
got my discharge and came back to
the states and didn’t know what to do.
I remember a professor who ran these
improvisations classes in college telling
me I had talent and that I should pur-
sue acting so I gave it a try, and wham,
couldn’t think of doing anything else.

favorite Latin Food an d do you like
Cuban Sandwiches?
Paul Calderon: Arroz con gandules.

can you give young up and coming
Latino Actors?
Paul Calderon: Make sure this is some-
thing that you really want to do. It’s not
for the squeamish. A lot of tenacity and
perserverance are needed, and you’re
not guaranteed you’ll make it.
Latin Times Magazine: Who has been
your hero and inspiration in your life?
Paul Calderon: Great writers of litera-
ture. Faulkner; Hemingway; Steinbeck;
Cormac McCarthy, and other lesser
known writers.
