Have you ever wondered about the Holy Spirit, who he/she/it is? And whether we can truly know when it is speaking to us…. prodding, or leading us in a direction. How do we know if it can be trusted, if we are truly understanding what it is trying to communicate with us?

The word says that it is impossible to follow God unless we are led by the Spirit. And the only way to be led by the Spirit is to follow God's command to be filled by the Spirit (Ephesians 5:18).

It has only been recently I would say in the last few years, that I have allowed myself to STOP, REST, LISTEN to the Holy Spirit -before that, I would hear, or I would feel led, and usually I didn’t listen -and I didn’t allow myself to be led, and the result was usually loss….

God contrasts being filled with the Spirit with being drunk. Somebody who is drunk with wine or alcohol is controlled by and consumed by alcohol. But somebody who is "drunk in the Spirit" is controlled and consumed by the Spirit, who helps us live holy lives.

SCRIPTURE ABOUT RESTING UPON THE LORD

Matthew 11:28-30

28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Revelation 6:11

11 Then each of them was given a white robe, and they were told to wait a little longer, until the full number of their fellow servants, their brothers and sisters, were killed just as they had been.

Genesis 2:2-3

2 By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. 3 Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.

Exodus 20:8-10

8 “Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns.

Isaiah 14:3-4

3 On the day the LORD gives you relief from your suffering and turmoil and from the harsh labor forced on you, 4 you will take up this taunt against the king of Babylon: How the oppressor has come to an end! How his fury has ended!

Psalm 143:10: Teach me to do Your will, For You are my God; Let Your good Spirit lead me on level ground.

Let the Holy Spirit wash away your fears..
