A new members-only club , The Park Club California , opened earlier this year adjacent to Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa . Situated at the Center Tower ’ s Garden Level , the club provides an exclusive social environment for the professional , entrepreneurial , creative and philanthropic communities to connect . Membership signups are invitation only . Designed by Venice-based boutique design agency Studio Collective and operated by BNG Hospitality , the club blends contemporary architectural elements with custom furnishings to create an inviting ambience . Reflecting its proximity to the Segerstrom campus with the Orange County Museum of Art and several theaters , the club ’ s entrance features a curated gallery of rotating exhibits featuring works by Southern California artists . Inside , the club offers eight unique spaces only available to members for gatherings from intimate meetings to large-scale special events . The club ’ s Monet Restaurant , which serves elevated coastal California cuisine , features designs inspired by the impressionist painter it ’ s named after and includes a performance space for live entertainment during dinner . Meanwhile , the Palm Bar serves craft cocktails and a noteworthy collection of wine and spirits . The restaurant , bar and event spaces open to the Garden Terrace . In addition to offering daily breakfast , lunch and dinner service , the club has a full calendar of member programs and activities such as pre- and post-theater socials , wine dinners , art receptions and seasonal gatherings . It ’ s said that , as we grow , our creativity dwindles . But even adults are encouraged to use their imaginations at the Museum of Make Believe , which opened permanently in Laguna Beach at the end of April . It is the first official space for founders Geoff and Amy Mitchell , who have already been hosting pop-up storytelling exhibits in Orange County . The inaugural exhibit , titled “ Ghost Stories and Fairy Tales ,” offers a glimpse into what the museum plans to include , incorporating everything from written stories , paintings and a room of miniatures in a mystical forest to a vintage circus tent that allows visitors to step back in time . “ Everything will be created by hand , touched by an artist , rather than relying on digital screens or apps ,” Amy says . “ The exhibit is meant to take guests back to a time when their imagination was the strongest — f or example , the way an old cardboard box could transform into an airship just from believing it to be . PURE DESIGN
Pure Design House , an interior design and product showroom , emphasizes clean , nontoxic materials whenever possible . The showroom in Laguna Beach is operated by Deana Duffek , who is owner and principal designer of both Pure Design House and Duffek Design & Development . Many pieces in the showroom showcase modern , Scandinavian-influenced design as well as innovative materials , techniques and technologies that can be utilized to create a healthier living space whether building or remodeling a home or business . Local residents as well as designers , architects and builders are invited to use the showroom as a resource for ideas . Pure Design House also offers trade access to design partner brands Sub-Zero , Wolf , Cove , Miele , Graff , Porcelanosa , Walker Zanger , Baldwin Hardware and Robern , plus a well-curated selection of clean building materials from flooring to tile and stone .
