As the name suggests, one thing that all of the species in Wild Thorn Hedging have in common, is that they sport a plethora of prickles. Those bristles and barbs act as a highly effective deterrent to make any self-respecting large mammal think twice before trying to breach your boundaries.
Aesthetically, you can be assured of year round feast for the eyes. The species mix in our new Wild Thorn Hedge offers both deciduous and evergreen foliage, along with long lasting floral displays in spring which are followed by colourful berries, hips and haws in autumn time.
This mix will create a superb habitat for nesting creatures such as birds and bumblebees and of course will offer a generous supply of spring nectar for a wide range of pollinators. Even the shortest linear meterage of Wild Thorn Hedging will be used as a safe highway for hedgehogs and other small mammals, whilst keeping livestock and other larger mammals exactly where they are meant to be.
When it comes to establishing Wild Thorn Hedging, life couldn’ t be easier. As part of the Elveden Instant Hedge range of boundary solutions, it can be delivered and installed at any time of year. Our unique growing and harvesting methods ensure minimal root disturbance – even though these hedges are fully mature.
If you are not yet familiar with the Elveden Instant Hedge concept, please do book an appointment to come and view our nursery.
