APPOINTMENTS
ANDREW GRANT APPOINTED CHAIR OF BATHSCAPE LANDSCAPE PARTNERSHIP
Andrew Grant , founder and director of Bath-based landscape architect Grant Associates , has been appointed chair of Bathscape Landscape Partnership .
Grant will help shape the future strategy of the Partnership , which aims to beneit Bath ’ s unique landscape for people , communities and heritage .
Bathscape Landscape Partnership is made up of a wide range of public , private and charitable organisations including Bath and North East Somerset Council ( B & NES ), National Trust , Cotswold Conservation Board , Avon Wildlife Trust , Bath Preservation Trust , the University of Bath , Bath Spa University and Wessex Water .
The partnership wants to enhance the heritage , landscape and wildlife value of the setting of the City of Bath World Heritage Site by engaging the community in its care and revitalising its use for health , recreation and fun .
Grant will replace Dr Marion Harney , director of studies - Conservation of Historic Gardens and Cultural Landscapes at the University of Bath - who was chair for three years .
Harney ’ s achievements included securing a Heritage Lottery Funded ( HLF ) scheme to develop and deliver an ongoing programme of activities known as The Landscape Partnership Scheme to progress Bathscape ’ s aims .

MARSHALLS EXPANDS WITH £ 38M CPM ACQUISITION
Landscape products company Marshalls has acquired pre-cast concrete manufacturer CPM Group in a £ 38m deal .
CPM Group specialises in underground water management solutions and manufactures a wide range of concrete pipes , containment chambers and other concrete infrastructure products .
The company turned over £ 51m in 2016 and employs approximately 350 people , most of whom are based at its manufacturing sites at Mells , Somerset and Pollington , East Yorkshire .
From now on , CPM Group will trade as Marshalls CPM and its managing director Mike Stacey will be staying on .
Marshalls ’ group inance director , Jack Clarke , said : “ We irmly believe that the addition of CPM ’ s products will accelerate our progress towards reaching our vision , and enable us to ofer our customers new products that expand our existing water management ofering .
“ We believe there is a good it , both economically and culturally , between CPM and the Marshalls group , and that this transaction will be for the beneit of all our employees .”
WETLANDS
LONDON ’ S ‘ BEST KEPT SECRET ’ OPENS TO THE PUBLIC
Walthamstow Wetlands , dubbed ‘ London ’ s Best Kept Secret ’ by the Mayor of London in 2012 , opened to the public on 20 October .
The open space - which is also an operational reservoir complex - is the result of ten years of planning , renewal , conservation work and investment , including a £ 4.47m National Lottery grant .
Kinnear Landscape Architects worked with Witherford Watson Mann Architects and lighting consultants Studio Dekka to develop the site .
The ten reservoirs that comprise the site serve as a refuge for waterbirds such as pochard , shoveler and gadwall and provide a stopover for migrating birds lying north and south each year .
A designated Site of Special Scientiic Interest ( SSSI ), Walthamstow Wetlands is also home to the largest heronry in London and is home to thousands of diferent wildlife species , from kingishers to the peregrine falcon .
The Wetlands also boast London ’ s largest recreational ishery and accommodates ish such as trout , carp , roach , tench and perch .
The reservoirs are also an operational water supply site for Thames Water , supplying 500 million litres of drinking water per day to around 3.5 million people across north east London .
