works have a sketch made in pencil before hand and not because I needed to practice but the other way around – after drawing it I thought it would look really nice in colours so I started to paint it . There was a study of some forms on terms of how it looks and how I might transcribe it on canvas , but very few and most in the beginning of my practice .
For this special edition of LandEscape we have selected Life on Jupiter and In the black of night , an interesting transdisciplinary research project that our readers have already started to admire in the introductory pages of this article . What has at once captured our attention of your captivating investigation about the relationship between your painting and the actual places you painted is the way you provided the visual results of your analysis with autonomous aesthetics : while walking our readers through the genesis of Life on Jupiter and In the black of night , would you shed light to your main sources of inspiration ?
The main sources from where I draw my inspiration is the place where I`m in , in terms of feelings and thoughts , or may be an accumulation of impressions on a certain aspect of life that I might not know is taking place within me . The two pieces selected came at different points in my life and , even though might seem they treat the same place , in consequence express different feelings and states of mind .
“ Life on Jupiter ” expresses the feeling of desolation I was going through at the time , with a desire to seclude myself from the world somewhere far away where I could be without the polution of the human touch . Since I can remember I was in love with the stars , planets and the Universe in general , the subject being very often approached to some degree in most of my works .
