Visitors are invited to vote for their favourite car and determine who will take home the award for the most outstanding classic car in this stunning feature display .
Amy Hunter – 1970 Ford Escort 1300GT
Amy learned a lot from watching her dad restore cars , and says she never thought she ’ d have a Mk 1 Escort of her own . She wanted it to be ‘ stock with a twist ’ so it now boasts some interesting upgrades , including a Fiesta XR2i engine and a Mazda RX-8 gearbox .
Andy Murrell – 1962 Ford Consul 375 Deluxe
It was a 21st birthday present to himself back in 1994 and Andy has transformed the classic Ford into something special . A Ford Scorpio V6 engine , air suspension and stunning interior re-trim are just some of the changes and Andy says that it “ will always be part of the family .”
Andy Salter – 1980 Triumph TR8
When Andy wanted a right-hand drive TR8 coupe he converted a left-hand drive car from the US . Calling it his “ ultimate TR8 ” the restoration project took 18 months and included upgrades for the brakes and suspension and a bespoke power-steering system . There were a few challenges but the result is stunning .
Anthony Evans – 1972 Jaguar E-Type
Anthony says he “ is proud to own such a lovely car ” and this gorgeous E-Type really is superb . Restored by its previous owner and used for trips to South Africa and the US , it ’ s covered fewer than 70,000 miles , has never failed an MOT and is enjoyed by Anthony during spring and summer .
Brian Kent – 1956 Vauxhall Cresta
Bought from an old friend , the Vauxhall was in superb condition so just a little work was needed to preserve it . That included minor attention to the paint , detailing of the engine bay and a small seat repair . Great to look at and impressively original , he says “ it ’ s lovely to drive .”
Chris James – 1991 Nissan Primera
This now-rare Nissan was built at Sunderland and is in incredibly original condition , still featuring the dealer stickers , number plates and tax disc holder . Having covered just 40,000 miles from new , it ’ s already won a trophy at the Festival of the Unexceptional show and that ’ s unlikely to be the last .
Darren Letts – 1999 Toyota MR2
This is Darren ’ s third MR2 and one that he has spent a lot of time on . During the COVID lockdown he embarked on a comprehensive rebuild , sorting some corrosion , fettling the mechanicals and adding the body kit . The colour is special , too , being “ a Mazda colour that I really like .”
Dave McGlynn – 1981 Daimler Sovereign
Known to Dave for many years , this stunning Daimler has never been restored and has just benefitted from careful ownership . There ’ s a comprehensive history , too , and he says that he enjoys it on fine days but will soon be tucking it away for the winter . “ I absolutely love it .”
Harry Chodha – 1991 VW Golf G60 Synchro
This already rare Golf has undergone an amazing transformation , resulting in eye-catching looks inside and out and a lot of power . The supercharged engine produces 525bhp ! He ’ d decided to build the ultimate Mk 2 Golf , but adds that he now “ wants to take it to the next level of performance .”
