She’s actually a minimal- ist miniature Yorkshire Terrier who was visiting her grandparents in Thornhill Manor Retirement Village a few weeks ago in the company of her parents Sean and Tracy Gallagher and their children Matthew and Erin. She was pegged in the garden with a long lead, but somehow managed to escape and disappear and that laid-back Friday afternoon quickly developed into a nightmare for Sean and Tracy and the grandparents Barbara and Terence Riley. All four scoured the village looking for Dusty and along the way alerted other residents and eventually a veritable posse was out trying to round up the errant animal. Eventually, Sean posted a photograph of Dusty on the Lakeside News Facebook page and next morning alerted Kimbal Mare. Not long after, Beulah from Thornhill Estate found a picture of Dusty on Kimbal’s missing dogs page. Beulah was checking the internet as she had come across this tiny dog in the Middle of Johannesburg Road, cowering with fear and unable to even run away. She had blocked the road with her car, disrupting the traffic, while she rescued the dog and took her through to Thornhill. Matthew celebrates Dusty’s return. Then came the internet revelation and the subsequent discovery that Dusty was from Thornhill Manor. Beulah very kindly returned Dusty to Barbara and Terence and a hor- rific day was transformed by a joyful reunion. 5
