Minnetonka Arts: Inspiring Artists Since 1952
Since 1952, the Minnetonka Center for the Arts has served the Lake Minnetonka community as a hub for artistic expression. The center exhibits local work and offers instruction for artists of all levels. It provides a space for community members to create and appreciate art.
The center gives aspiring artists the ability to create in various media, including drawing, painting, fiber arts, glass, jewelry, sculpture and photography, in the many classes offered.
Classroom spaces are geared toward creativity and are flexible enough for independent work and collaboration. Big, bright and full of natural light, the environment attracts many in the community.
For young artists, the center offers a Summer Arts Camp featuring more than 100 different camps for ages 5 to 15. Classes are three hours long with half- and full-day options available. The classes introduce art media and techniques and explore a wide range of visual arts experiences.
The public is invited to view art at the center all year long with new exhibits that are free to experience in the Laura H. Miles Gallery. The facility is fully accessible. Original artwork by students, instructors or other area artists is displayed throughout the center, with pieces available for sale in the retail shop, Murphy Room, café, art wall and foyer.
Since 2009, the center has curated and managed Partners in Art, a program of visual art exhibits in the public spaces of Ridgedale Center that reaches millions of visitors each year. With Ridgedale’ s renovation and expansion, the Partners in Art exhibit program has tripled in scale, substantially increasing opportunities for regional artists to display and sell their artwork. Check out the center’ s online calendar to see what’ s happening, or learn more about current and upcoming exhibits. The arts center is located at 2240 North Shore Drive, Wayzata.
