Directors Circle Debut

With the goal of taking Laguna Art Museum to greater heights , the institution recently created a Directors Circle comprising philanthropic members whose support will help bolster the museum ’ s mission . Donations by this high-level patron group will directly help to fund major initiatives , exhibitions , education programs and community engagement efforts . Executive Director Julie Perlin Lee hopes to elevate the museum to be “ a locally loved and nationally recognized organization .” The new giving group , which will have access to unique opportunities , was celebrated with an inaugural dinner and awards night on Sept . 15 at Montage Laguna Beach . Approximately 85 guests were treated to limitededition Electro Florals created by the 2022 Directors Circle featured artist , Baldemar Fierro . The group was also joined by artists John Sonsini , whose work was on display at the museum this fall , and Rebeca Méndez , who will be featured in the upcoming Art & Nature festival in November . Also at the event , California art historian Nancy Dustin Wall Moure was recognized with the Wendt Award for her contribution to the arts , while Ranney and Priscilla Draper were honored with the Anna Hills Award for their generous support , including establishment of a $ 1 million museum endowment fund . Notably , the Drapers ’ generosity inspired two other individuals to pledge $ 100,000 gifts to ensure the museum ’ s longevity . The museum aims to increase membership of the Directors Circle incrementally . Those with interest in joining should contact Lee through the museum ’ s website to learn more . RUNNING AMOK

Laguna Beach-based men ’ s adventure lifestyle brand Roark — inspired by expeditions , cultures , people and places on the road less traveled — has announced a collaboration with heavy metal band Motörhead . The Run Amok collection combines the brand ’ s love of music and running in 14 performance apparel pieces that “ rage against every bland pastel offering within the traditional running space .” These breathable activewear items are designed to take runners from the trail to the bar to the front row at a concert . Think moisture-wicking woven button-ups , T-shirts made with drirelease technology , lightweight running shorts , pre / postrun hoodies and joggers , plus caps and socks , all meant to embrace chaos , self-expression and the freedom to move at your own pace . According to a press release , “ sweating has never looked this hard core .” The collection , launched in late September , kicked off with the Roark crew meeting at late Motörhead founder Lemmy ’ s second home , the Rainbow Bar & Grill in West Hollywood , for a drink followed by a 4-mile run to Roark ’ s store on La Brea Avenue for music , a photo exhibit and more . Run Amok x Motörhead is available online and at select retailers including Laguna Surf & Sport . ( 949-514-6954 ; roark . com ) — S . S .
