Laguna Canyon Foundation has settled into its new headquarters at the Massen Greene House within the newly created Michael and Tricia Berns Canyon Preserve , where the nonprofit ’ s first gala will take place Oct . 21 with a “ Glammin ’ in the Canyon ” theme ; tickets will soon be available on the organization ’ s website . The event will honor local couple Michael and Tricia Berns , who donated $ 1 million toward the preserve project , and the Massen Greene Foundation , which funded the restoration of the 1940s-era home of the same name . Laguna Canyon Foundation moved from downtown Laguna Beach to the new space in early 2020 , but it closed during the pandemic , with the full staff only coming back to the office regularly this past spring . The preserve was mostly finished over the summer , with work continuing on a final section of this 3-acre piece of coastal sage scrub habitat . The preserve includes a new utility terrace for the nonprofit ’ s conservation work as well as a gathering space for community and volunteer events , a circular deck for educational exploration and Priscilla ’ s Garden with rose bushes and native plants .
