APHL Receives Record Number of Applications for 2022 Fellowship Programs

APHL received over 600 fellow applications and 200 host laboratory applications for its 2022 fellowship programs . These include applications to the following traditional and new subject areas , including :

Current APHL fellows attended APHL 2022 in Cleveland . A special professional development and networking meeting was offered .
APHL is launching a new public health laboratory internship program in the coming months . Interns will be current students or recent graduates interested in a 12-16 week full-time or part-time experience in a public health laboratory . n

Reliable and timely methods for data exchange are critical for the surveillance of animal rabies disease . Yet , most public health laboratories only sporadically report , using manual methods that are time-consuming , error-prone and that make national surveillance impossible .
Join an APHL Rabies Cohort and receive fully-funded technical assistance to send standardized electronic animal rabies ELR messages !

Technical assistance team includes technical architects , terminologists and project managers who work in tandem with laboratory staff for 3 to 6 months .
Once in production , rabies data is sent in near real time as HL7 2.5.1 messages through AIMS . www . aphl . org
