Carmel Place was designed by Ollie, a company who wants to make all inclusive co-living more accessible. As Carmel Place is the first of its kind for NYC residents, its acts as a prototype for the future of modular homes in the city.
It should be said, micro apartments are not just small apartments. Unlike most NYC residences, which are small and overpriced, Carmel Place offers fully furnished modular apartments that are designed and organized to utilize every facet of space provided.
Carmel Place holds 55 loft-like rental apartments, ranging in area from 260-360 square feet, and selling for roughly $113 per square foot. Twenty-two of the units have been sold from $980 to $1,873 per month, while the other have been sold at roughly $3,000. Similar studios in the area have been selling for nearly $4,000 and above without offering the same amenities of Carmel Place.
In addition to the low prices, the development offers a laundry list of complimentary amenities to its residents. The Ollie system, which the founders have called “an all inclusive experience,” has helped persuade hesitant residents to downsize. The system is describe as hotel level convenience including “hi-speed wifi, cable, and even housekeeping, entirely included in your rent.”
